Not Loving Thyself Can Hurt Yourself

by Thursday, May 19, 2016

“If you have been asking yourself “Why do I keep attracting dogs who just want to use me and not put in the work?” it could be because you think you’re average so they think you’re average.”

The third track on the Lemonade album has become my favorite song. This aggressive melody is the biggest confidence booster to women everywhere. “Don’t Hurt Yourself” is an anthem for young ladies across the nation. In this song, Beyoncé expresses her rage after coming to terms with the fact that her man really did cheat on her. She read him like Dr. Sues honey! Every time I hear that song I turn into this ghetto diva like “YYYYAAASSSSS BIT**”. Although this song was portrayed as a feeling of rage, I think every woman should love herself at this level. If you really listen to the lyrics of this song, this message could never come from a weak, broken women. Only a strong, confident woman could say the things mentioned in the verses of this record. I feel that every single woman should enter her relationship with this level of self-love. If you don’t feel yourself like this, then you will hurt yourself. Here are a few points of confidence I took from these bars.

Beyonce Week1

“You ain’t married to no average bit** boy” Now I don’t think we should go around calling ourselves female dogs but I do think we should think of ourselves as above average at all times. When you see yourself as irreplaceable, you will carry yourself as such. When a woman knows that God broke the mode when he made her, she won’t take anything less than the best. Men will think twice before even approaching her with nonsense because women like this have standards that will not be lowered. We all need to hold ourselves this high when we are in our single season in order to avoid attracting men who don’t deserve us. If you have been asking yourself “Why do I keep attracting dogs who just want to use me and not put in the work?” it could be because you think you’re average so they think you’re average. Men only perceive you how you perceive you. Drink this Lemonade and love yourself before you hurt yourself.

“Stop giving these men you just started dating so many chances because guess what…you too can “bounce to the next di**”.”

“As I bounce to the next di** boy” I think women tend to forget how many more men there are out there. I know society tries to brainwash you into thinking all the good men are taken, gay or in jail but this is all manipulation. This is what men want you to think so you can continue to accept ordinary when you need to be taking nothing less than extraordinary. Beyoncé knows that there are way more men out there and that’s how you should approach every dating situation. I am not saying not to take men seriously and pay attention to one at a time. But I am saying not to lower your standards because if he doesn’t have what you feel you desire or deserve, you have more options. Stop giving these men you just started dating so many chances because guess what…you too can “bounce to the next di**”.

“Keep a bigger smile on my face, being alone” If you don’t value alone time, you don’t value yourself. So many women think they need a man to make them happy and Beyoncé says hell no. If you can’t be happy by yourself then you need to remain single until you can. Depending on someone else for your happiness is detrimental to your health. If you can’t be satisfied alone then you’re running from something within you that needs to be dealt with. Trying to bring a man in to make you whole will only make it worse because what if he isn’t the right man? You will then find yourself in a bad relationship because you began to accept what you don’t deserve because you just can’t be happy by yourself. Learn how to keep a smile on your face being alone. If you lack this then you will never gain real, healthy love.
